As some of you may already be aware, we recently encountered a significant challenge when our insurance carrier tripled our automotive fleet insurance premium. Despite extensive efforts to find alternative solutions, we were unable to secure a more favorable arrangement. While we remain hopeful for future changes, we must address our current reality and take decisive action to ensure the sustainability of our operations.

To address the financial impact of this increase, we have devised a comprehensive plan involving contributions from various stakeholders, including ownership, management, leasing drivers, and customers. Here are the key aspects of our solution:

  1. Ownership: The retired owners have agreed to forgo profit distributions until we can resolve the excessive insurance costs.
  2. Management: The management team has voluntarily accepted salary cuts to help cover expenses.
  3. Leasing Drivers: We understand the importance of fair compensation for your work. However, adjustments to leasing terms have been made as follows:
    1.   Truck rental fees will increase by $10 per day.
    1.   Commissions will be adjusted to 33% from 35%.
  4. Customers: To further offset the impact, there will be another round of pricing adjustments for our customers.

We acknowledge that these changes may pose challenges and require sacrifices from everyone involved. However, it is imperative that we adapt and persevere in order to overcome the obstacles we face. The Ice Cream Wagon has a rich history of resilience, having navigated through numerous challenges over our 46 years in operation. We are committed to working together with you to navigate through these difficult times and emerge stronger on the other side.
