Attention ALL drivers.

There are some issues that currently need attention and remediation. These issues are making it unpleasant for new as well as existing drivers to function smoothly, efficiently and, with minimal stress. It is also impacting the management crew by taking time out to address these issues.

The company generally try to keep drivers in their preferred trucks as much as possible. However, the nature of our business makes it so that we have to use a rotational schedule. The result of everyone’s differing work schedules and truck availability, makes it so that drivers get “bounced” from truck to truck. This creates a system of of having to share trucks. Believe us when we tell you that we try to minimize this as much as possible as it creates more overall work and loss of time.

Issue: The management of ice cream. Many of your are neat and organized. Kudos to you and a job well done. However, there are some on the crew who completely disregard good and proper ice cream management. A truck that is re-assigned to another driver with a mismanaged freezer creates problems all across the board. Those problems range from miscounts all the way to having to spend time cleaning up someone else’s freezer mess. Mishandling the ice cream also creates more spoilage in the form of deformed or melted ice cream. All of this costs time and money.

This is not fair to any one. This is why most of you hate counting trucks. And we do not blame you. Please, lets all to better. Remember the idea of consideration: To think about others in all that you do throughout your day.

A couple of other suggestions are:

Learn how the manufacturer packs the ice cream in the box. Only pull out of the box what you intend to sell. In doing so, you can quickly count what is in a box.

Do not dump all the ice cream out of a box to count it and then just throw it back in. If you do this, repack it the way the manufacturer does. This is time consuming. Refer to the previous suggestion.

We know that some of the boxes fall apart and do not retain their shape. Do your best not to repack the ice cream in other boxes. There are way to open the frail boxes in order to preserve their integrity. If you do repack ice cream into sturdier boxes, try and repack them in a similar fashion as the manufacturer making it easier and faster to count.

These are examples of how your freezer SHOULD NOT be managed.

Boxes opened longways take up a lot of area space.
